US says Strait of Hormuz open despite Iran's closure claim
The US maintains that the Strait of Hormuz must stay accessible, despite Iran's assertion that it has shut the crucial shipping lane after further military action. Hostilities escalated on Saturday when the US struck over 140 targets in Iran, responding to an Iranian attack on a ship in the strait. Subsequently, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out extensive assaults targeting US installations and partners, among them a US base situated in Jordan.
