Microplastics may worsen fatty liver disease
Tiny plastic bits, found everywhere, could be particularly bad for your liver when combined with a high-fat diet. A University of Oklahoma study found that mice on a high-fat diet exposed to microplastics had over twice the markers of liver injury. Researchers believe these findings suggest microplastics affect the liver's natural repair mechanisms.
