World War Two Far East veteran Ron Gumbley dies aged 101

Ron Gumbley, a 101-year-old World War Two veteran who served in the Far East, has died. His daughter confirmed he passed away peacefully on Tuesday. Gumbley, who joined the RAF at 18, delivered mail to troops and assisted released prisoners of war. He recently attended the 80th VJ Day anniversary in Staffordshire, where he read a poem and met King Charles and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The family described him as their hero.
