Kim Jong Un threatens South Korea, eyes US dialogue.
Speaking at a Workers’ Party congress in Pyongyang on 26 February, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country could entirely destroy South Korea if it believed its security was under threat. He dismissed prospects for dialogue with Seoul but indicated negotiations with the United States remain possible, provided Washington abandons what he described as a hostile stance. South Korea’s envoy responded that Seoul would consider every scenario regarding potential US–North Korea discussions.
