IDF confirms Iron Beam laser not ready for operational use.
The Israel Defense Forces has confirmed that its advanced laser air-defence system, Iron Beam, is not yet ready for operational use during the ongoing conflict. Officials said the system, designed to intercept drones and missiles at a lower cost than traditional interceptors, still requires further development before it can be deployed widely. Although earlier versions reportedly shot down dozens of drones in 2024, the military says the technology is not mature enough for regular battlefield use.
