United States and Taiwan seal major trade deal to cut tariffs and deepen economic ties
The United States and Taiwan have finalised a reciprocal trade agreement that locks in a 15 per cent US tariff on Taiwanese imports while committing Taipei to reduce or remove levies on most American exports. Under the pact, Taiwan has pledged to sharply increase its purchases of US goods — including energy, aircraft and machinery — between 2025 and 2029. Washington says the deal will expand opportunities for US exporters and strengthen critical supply chains.
