UK reports rise in Russian navy activity
HMS Severn intercepted two Russian vessels - corvette RFN Stoikiy and tanker Yelnya - as they sailed west through the Dover Strait and English Channel within the past two weeks. The patrol ship shadowed the Russian vessels before transferring monitoring duties to a NATO ally off Brittany. Defence Secretary John Healey reported a 30% increase in Russian naval activity around UK waters over the past two years, calling it evidence of increased Russian aggression across Europe.
