Annual cancer cases to hit 35 million by 2050 without more action
The World Health Organization warns that annual cancer cases will rise by 66.7% from 2024 levels, reaching 35 million by 2050, unless prevention and early treatment improve. Tobacco use, infections, alcohol, and high BMI are major causes, but nearly four in ten cases are preventable. There are also big gaps in access to diagnosis and treatment, especially in lower-income countries, where fewer women survive breast cancer.
