Portsmouth Teacher Banned for Inappropriate Pupil Relationship

A teacher has been indefinitely banned from teaching after a misconduct panel found he developed an inappropriate relationship with a pupil. Stuart Smith, 48, of Mayville High School in Portsmouth, rubbed and touched a pupil's thigh on a school trip and exchanged overly personal WhatsApp messages with her. He resigned in December 2023.
