Scotland's New Hydro Projects: First in 40 Years
People could see stronger energy supplies with less dependence on imported fuel. Ofgem provisionally approved 16 long-duration electricity storage schemes on Friday, including three pumped storage hydro projects in northern Scotland, the first new hydropower facilities planned in Great Britain for more than 40 years. Another 13 schemes use compressed air, lithium-ion and vanadium redox flow batteries.
