AI-ECG Detects Heart Failure Early in Kenya Study
Researchers from UT Southwestern Medical Center found that an AI algorithm applied to inexpensive electrocardiograms accurately screened patients in Kenya for left ventricular systolic dysfunction, a key heart failure precursor. The AI-ECG detected the condition in 14.1% of patients who also received echocardiograms, achieving 95.6% sensitivity. The study suggests a scalable, low-cost tool for resource-limited settings.
