Man jailed for life for racist rape

A woman's life was drastically changed, leaving her constantly fearful and unable to go out alone. John Ashby, 32, received a life sentence for raping a Sikh woman and subjecting her to racist abuse in October 2025. He admitted charges including religiously aggravated assault after forcing his way into her Walsall home with a stick.
