YouTube still suggests eating disorder videos to teens, researchers claim
New research indicates that YouTube's algorithms continue to suggest harmful eating disorder content to adolescents, despite new regulations being introduced a year ago. The Centre for Countering Digital Hate, a non-profit group, found one in 10 videos suggested to a simulated 13-year-old featured "thinspiration" or extreme calorie restriction. Google, which owns YouTube, said it has a "steadfast" commitment to stopping such content and has removed the videos highlighted.
