1,500 Miles: First UK Remote Robotic Surgery
Professor Prokar Dasgupta, a London surgeon, performed Britain's initial robot-controlled prostate operation on 11 February. Patient Paul Buxton, 62, was situated 1,500 miles away in Gibraltar. This surgery used a Toumai-branded robotic system, marking the first of two test cases. The new technique seeks to deliver healthcare to patients in distant communities and reduce travel burdens.
