Tesco fuel sales rise 19.5 per cent

Higher petrol and diesel costs helped lift takings at the supermarket group despite slower growth in other parts of the business. During the three months to May, Tesco reported a sharp increase in fuel income while overall sales rose by a smaller amount than before. Fuel turnover reached £1.7bn, and total sales growth was one per cent, taking sales to £16.8bn.
