Alphabet joins Dow list as Verizon leaves
People who follow the index will soon see a bigger technology company included. S&P Dow Jones Indices said Alphabet, Google's parent company, will replace Verizon Communications in the Dow Jones Industrial Average before trading begins on 29 June. Alphabet's larger market value, share price and broad mix of businesses were given as reasons for the change.
