UK spy chief: AI weapons need moral rules
A retired head of British intelligence has asserted that autonomous artificial intelligence weaponry, such as drones, must have an ethical framework integrated into their programming to guide their behavior. Former GCHQ chief David Omand now holds the view that AI possesses the capacity to render more ethical judgments than humans in intense combat situations. He changed his mind, having previously thought autonomous drones couldn't follow international humanitarian law over a decade ago.
