Social media must stop World Cup abuse, Ofcom says
Social media platforms face pressure to tackle online abuse as the World Cup nears, to better protect players and fans from hate. Ofcom, the UK's online safety regulator, told firms to prepare with effective measures against illegal content for the tournament. The 2022 men’s World Cup match between France and England was identified as a significant point for player abuse, according to FIFA research cited by Ofcom.
