Italy readies two minesweepers for Hormuz
Shipping through a key oil route could become safer as Italy prepares naval support for an international mine-clearing mission in the Strait of Hormuz. Navy chief Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto said on Thursday that up to four vessels, including two minesweepers, are ready to deploy. About a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas normally passes through the strait.
