UK inflation falls to 3.2% in November
UK inflation unexpectedly fell to 3.2% in November, its lowest level since March, down from 3.6% in October, according to official data released Wednesday. The decline, driven primarily by lower food prices for items like cakes, biscuits and breakfast cereals, exceeded economist expectations of 3.5%. Core inflation also dropped to 3.2% from 3.4%. The surprise fall significantly strengthens expectations that the Bank of England will cut interest rates from 4% to 3.75% at Thursday's policy meeting.
