VLC's creator raises $5m for robot-control software

The developer behind one of the world's most-used apps is betting robots and drones will soon need the same plumbing video does. Jean-Baptiste Kempf, who built the free VLC player downloaded over 6 billion times, raised $5m this week for his startup Kyber. Built on VLC's tech, it hit 8 milliseconds of lag in a demo, and already serves defence and robotics clients.
