Council officers face daily threats from crime gangs
Council staff enforcing consumer protection laws are encountering constant threats and violence from organised crime groups. A survey shows more than seven out of ten officers, who work for councils, have faced threats while investigating illegal businesses like small shops and vape outlets. One investigator, Mandy, was forced to move house after receiving death threats and having her car rammed twice by a gang.
