HMRC Collects Record £860.7 Billion in Tax This Year
Frozen income thresholds have pushed more workers into higher tax bands, driving a big jump in government revenue. Gross tax and National Insurance receipts between April 2025 and February 2026 hit £860.7 billion, up £72.6 billion on the same period last year. Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and National Insurance Contributions all drove the increase.
