Single small boat carried 128 people across the Channel
A single small boat carried a record 128 people across the English Channel on Friday, the highest number ever recorded in one vessel. On the same day, three boats carrying migrants completed Channel crossings, with 225 people arriving in total. The Home Office says smuggling gangs are taking greater risks, cramming more people into unseaworthy boats.
