UK Raises Terror Threat to Severe for First Time Since 2021
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre raised the UK National Threat Level from substantial to severe on 30 April, meaning a terrorist attack is considered highly likely in the next six months. The escalation came the day after the Golders Green terror stabbings but JTAC confirmed it reflects a broader, longer-term rise in Islamist and extreme right-wing threats from individuals and small groups within the UK.
