Fifty Percent Steel Tariffs Raise UK Building Costs
UK construction projects will face rising costs from new steel import tariffs, which will affect the £100bn HS2 railway. Ministers announced last week they would double duties for foreign steel and slash import quotas to help struggling British steelmakers. Duties on imports outside quotas will rise to 50% from July, making infrastructure development more expensive.
