MPs call disability benefit delays unacceptable
The Public Accounts Committee has criticised the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) over Personal Independence Payment (PIP) delays. Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, committee chairman, stated the service was poor. In 2024-25, just 51% of claims met the 75-day processing target, falling short of the DWP's 75% goal. Some claimants wait over a year. The committee says the DWP lacks immediate solutions. The government cited its £647 million modernisation and Sir Stephen Timms' review, due this autumn.
