Lidl passes Morrisons, now fifth biggest grocer

Shoppers seeking lower weekly bills have helped Lidl become a major UK supermarket. The German-owned discounter surpassed Morrisons, becoming Great Britain's fifth largest grocer in the 12 weeks leading to 17 May. Lidl's sales increased by 8.8% year on year, giving it an 8.6% market share, according to Worldpanel by Numerator.
