Landlords face £7,000 fines for unsafe homes
New rules mean landlords can be fined up to £7,000 for not fixing dangerous problems like severe damp and mould. Councils across England gained these new powers from Monday, June 22, under the landmark Renters’ Rights Act. Housing Secretary Steve Reed urged councils to use all available powers to protect tenants.
