Thousands leave Hawaii as costs hit housing and sports
Rising expenses are forcing households to abandon homes, recreational activities and holidays. Thousands of residents have relocated from Hawaii to Utah to escape high living costs, while others cannot afford property in Coweta. Financial barriers are also excluding children from youth sports and preventing visits to Disney parks. Consequently, displaced islanders have established successful food businesses after moving to cheaper states.
