Why You Should Stop Feeding Birds Now
Diseases spreading at crowded bird feeders put common garden species, especially greenfinches, at serious risk in warmer months. The RSPB now advises halting most bird feeding between 1 May and 31 October annually to curb trichomonosis. This disease has already reduced the greenfinch population by two million, landing the species on the conservation red list.
