16.5 million UK adults saw fake politician videos

Millions of UK adults saw fake political content online before recent elections, leading to warnings of a "democratic emergency". A new poll found nearly 30% of voters saw AI-generated videos or images of politicians before last month's local elections. This means about 16.5 million people encountered deepfakes, according to cross-party think tank Demos.
