Thailand and Cambodia Sign Ceasefire Deal at ASEAN Summit

A broader ceasefire accord was officially signed by Thailand and Cambodia on October 26, 2025, during the ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur. The agreement builds on a prior truce that ended July’s five-day border conflict. Important provisions of the deal involve the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers by Thailand and the clearing of heavy armaments and landmines from the border region. President Donald Trump attended the ceremony and signed separate trade deals with Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia as well as agreements on critical minerals with Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
