Italy police stop €300 million piracy ring
Following a police operation, individuals accessing illicit streaming content could be penalized with monetary sanctions, from €154 up to €5,000. On Friday, Italian financial authorities took down an elaborate streaming piracy operation that had been unlawfully re-transmitting programming sourced from significant services such as Netflix and Sky. An application named CINEMAGOAL was central to this network, which resulted in an estimated €300 million loss for rights holders.
