Cancer kills 26,000 people a day. WHO warns it will get worse
New cancer cases worldwide are projected to rise from around 20.6 million a year to nearly 35 million by 2050, the World Health Organization said in a new global report. The agency called for urgent action on prevention, pointing to tobacco, alcohol, obesity and air pollution as key drivers alongside ageing populations, with poorer countries expected to see the sharpest rises. Roughly one in five people develop cancer in their lifetime, and the disease kills about 26,000 people a day.
