UK braces for -2C tonight: What's driving the chill?

The Met Office reported that blustery showers will hit northwestern areas, and conditions are getting colder as low pressure arrives from the north-west. Forecasts predict temperatures will drop below freezing, reaching -2C in central Scotland, with some hill snow probable above 400 metres.
