7.4 quake prompts tsunami warning for Japanese coast
People in Japan's north-east coastal areas face tsunami warnings and advisories after a strong earthquake. A 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit about 100km off the coast of Sanriku, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency to act. It registered an intensity of 5+ on Japan's seismic scale and struck at a 10km depth.
