Argentina starts rodent testing as outbreak source eyed
Argentina's health ministry said it will trap and test rodents in the southern city of Ushuaia, where officials believe the MV Hondius outbreak may have originated. Authorities said the Dutch couple who later died likely caught the Andes strain from rodents while visiting a landfill on a bird-watching tour, before boarding the cruise on March 20. Hantavirus cases involving the rare strain rose 86% in Argentina last year.
