The College of Policing, which sets standards for police in England and Wales, says the 757 officers sacked or removed in the year to March 2026 is the most since its barred list began in 2017. The Met recorded the highest number, 195, surpassing Greater Manchester Police and West Midlands Police. Of the 87 sexual cases, six involved child sexual abuse and five involved rape.
