New brain implant could restore speech
A University of Melbourne team is developing a low-risk brain implant to help people with neurological disorders who have lost their ability to speak. The device sits under the scalp and above the motor cortex, capturing brain signals as users try to speak. These signals are then converted into text or audio with 96% accuracy, offering a new way to communicate.
