Met Police sorry for leaking Speaker's Mandelson tip-off
The Metropolitan Police apologised to Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle after accidentally revealing to Lord Mandelson's lawyers that he was the source of a tip-off that Mandelson was a flight risk, leading to his arrest. Hoyle said he passed the information — received during a visit to the British Virgin Islands — to police in good faith. Mandelson, 72, was arrested on Monday 23 February on suspicion of passing market-sensitive government information to Epstein while business secretary, and released on bail after more than nine hours of questioning.
