Over 60 Labour MPs are pressuring Prime Minister Keir Starmer to ban social media for those under 16, citing concerns about anxiety, learning difficulties, and social skill development among young people. They are urging him to follow Australia's lead, which implemented a similar ban in December. Starmer has stated that all options are being considered. The House of Lords is expected to vote on an amendment to enact the ban in the UK. Other countries are considering similar laws.
