Israel to spend billions on new US fighter jets

Military spending is set to rise with a major aircraft purchase. Israel’s defence ministry said on Sunday it approved a plan to acquire two combat squadrons of F-35 and F-15Ia jets from US firms Lockheed Martin and Boeing. The agreement is valued at tens of billions of shekels, according to the ministry statement.
