China Opens Door to Nvidia H200 Sales for AI Firms

Better access to advanced chips could help ease computing shortages for artificial intelligence developers. Chinese authorities plan to allow selected companies to purchase limited numbers of Nvidia H200 chips after previously holding back approvals, despite earlier United States permission for exports. Alibaba, ByteDance and DeepSeek have been told they may receive approval, while buyers must explain why local alternatives won't meet their needs.
