Canada win first ever World Cup match, 6-0
Canada recorded the first World Cup win in their history on Thursday, thrashing Qatar 6-0 in front of a sold-out crowd in Vancouver. Striker Jonathan David scored a hat-trick, with Cyle Larin, Nathan Saliba and a Qatar own goal completing the rout, the biggest win by a CONCACAF team in men’s World Cup history. The result takes the co-hosts to the top of Group B, though midfielder Ismael Kone was stretchered off with a serious leg injury.
