E-scooter rider killed on A4042 after being struck by car
A 26-year-old man riding an e-scooter was killed after being struck from behind by a Vauxhall Corsa on an unlit stretch of the A4042 near Newport shortly after midnight. Emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed. An 18-year-old motorist suffered minor injuries. Police said the collision occurred around 00:45 on Sept 30 and asked anyone travelling between 00:15–00:45 with dashcam or CCTV to contact them as investigations continue.
