Richard Branson's wife Joan dies aged 80
Joan Branson, wife of Sir Richard Branson, has died, it was announced. The Virgin boss paid tribute, calling her his 'best friend'. The couple, together for five decades, married in 1989 on Necker Island. She was 80. Branson confirmed Joan's death occurred on November 25. They had two children, Holly and Sam. Their first daughter, Clare Sarah, died shortly after birth. He also described her as a wonderful grandmother.
