UK Inflation Falls, Pound Edges Lower
Cheaper price growth could ease pressure on household budgets and borrowing costs. Data released on Wednesday by the Office for National Statistics showed annual consumer prices rose 2.8% in April, down from 3.3% in March and below economists' forecasts of 3%, while sterling slipped 0.07% against the dollar. The currency traded at $1.3384, and the euro stayed at 86.65 pence.
