Houthis halted Red Sea shipping attacks last year
Global supply chains faced chaos after Houthis caused problems for shipping in the Red Sea. This Yemeni militant group, part of Iran’s “axis of resistance”, began these actions after the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Their campaign paused following a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in October 2025, but resumed in March 2026.
