Iran claims F-18 downed; US calls it false

A factual dispute has emerged after Iran's IRGC claimed it used an advanced air defence system to strike a US F/A-18 fighter jet in the Chabahar region of southern Iran, saying the aircraft crashed into the Indian Ocean. US Central Command flatly denied the claim, stating no American fighter aircraft have been shot down by Iran.
